Join us on this Churchill-based polar bear photography tour to view the King of the Arctic, coupled with our intensive focus on helping you to take outstanding photos. Our adventure begins in Churchill and spends three full days on the tundra. Custom-designed Polar Rovers take us into the heart of their wild habitat, with plenty of space for equipment and room to manoeuvre for terrific shots. On-site guidance from the expert photographer-guide is complemented by evening lectures on how best to capture arctic wildlife through the camera’s lens—most notably polar bears, but also arctic fox, arctic hare and more!

Day 1 - Winnipeg
Arrive in Winnipeg and transfer to your hotel. Meet your Expedition Leader and fellow travellers at an orientation dinner.

Day 2 -Churchill
Morning flight to Churchill. This hospitable outpost town, originally a fur-trading post is your base for adventure. This evening enjoy a lecture on Arctic photography and the northern environs by your Expedition Leader, who is both an accomplished photographer and seasoned naturalist.

Day 3-5 - Tundra
Polar bear photography – rise early to board the custom-designed Polar Rovers, which allow you to get within prime photography range of the polar bears. Although each vehicle accommodates up to 35 passengers, numbers are limited to 16, ensuring that everyone has a window seat, space for camera gear and plenty of room to shoot. For three full days, you spend the daylight hours on the tundra, photographing polar bears as they roam the edge of Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to freeze. From the warmth of the Rover, you may see mothers with cubs and young adult males play-fighting. A large adult male may turn his attention toward you, sometimes approaching within feet or even lifting his massive paws onto the side of the vehicle to peer inside.

You may also spot other northern wildlife, including arctic fox, snowy owl, ptarmigan and gyrfalcon. Each evening you will meet for dinner, followed by presentations on photography, wildlife or local native cultures. If the night skies are clear, you may be fortunate enough to see the aurora borealis, and head for a place away from the lights of town to capture this magical event on camera.

Day 6 - Winnipeg
Return to Winnipeg late afternoon which gives you most of the day free to explore Churchill. Spend your final night in Winnipeg.

Day 7 - Depart
Return to the UK or extend your tour.
