Nova Scotia's Awesome Autumn
Autumn is one of the best times of the year to visit beautiful Nova Scotia, and not just for the autumn leaves.

As the colours change to brilliant shades of red and orange, getting outdoors on foot or via the water to appreciate the golden landscape and crisp air has never been better! Sublime vistas while hiking along the Skyline Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park have to be seen to be believed. The trail twists and turns giving magnificent views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the local wildlife and the carpet of fall foliage below. A hike down The Egypt Falls trail offers a quick descent down to the widest waterfall on Cape Breton Island and is picture perfect surrounded by the blazing trees. Alternatively viewing the full force of the autumn colours by the water is a must! Whether is it kayaking or canoeing around the inlets of the South Shore, paddling amongst the highest tides in the world on the Bay of Fundy or staying close to Halifax within the protected 100 Wild Islands area, the magnificent landscape of Nova Scotia is breath-taking.

For those culture vultures October sees the Nova Scotia festival scene host 2 of the most exciting festivals of the year! Cape Breton is host to The Celtic Colours International Festival (11th – 19th October) which celebrates the musical culture of the region. The festival hosts more than 50 concerts with some of the world’s finest musicians who share the stage with the best local musicians, singers, dancers, and story-tellers. It’s not just about the performances though, festival-goers can enjoy local food, buy arts and crafts and learn about Gaelic and Mi’kmaw cultures.
