Follow in the Footsteps of Royalty!

Why not follow in the footsteps of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge by taking a tour of western Canada!

The Royal Tour started in British Columbia and went through Vancouver Island, Victoria and the Gulf Islands region, a large sparsely populated area, home to one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems including rainforests, marshes, beaches, mountains, oceans, rivers and lakes, ideal for bear viewing (including the rare and beautiful Spirit Bear), whale watching and fishing. Travelling from Victoria to Vancouver by float plane, it provides the quickest way to travel between the two cities and are on of the real symbols of this part of the world. Many of our own holidays also use this method of transport to take you deep into the wilderness.


We have access to a number of specialist wildlife viewing lodges in the area. You can choose to spend time at the any of the lodges independently or combine then to make your own unique bear and whale viewing holiday getting up close to Orcas and Sea Otters


One of the stops we were most excited about was the Great Bear Rainforest – the world's largest temperate rainforest, and home of the Spirit Bear, located on the beautiful Central Coast of British Columbia. They took part in the British Columbia’s Government's 'Taste of British Columbia' festival at Mission Hill Winery. Their Royal Highnesses then flew to Whitehorse, Yukon. The start of many of our wildlife holidays including Husky Adventures travelling deep into the forest by sled, canoeing and camping trips on deserted rivers and rafting along The Tatshenshini River. Our canoeing adventures extend from 6-21 nights!


You can also explore this wonderful region on horseback or go trekking beside lakes and mountains and take a spectacular train ride. The city is home to a vibrant arts community, great restaurants, buzzing coffee houses, glitzy galleries – all within a short drive of pristine wilderness.


The Royal Couple then traveled a short distance to the beautiful Montana Mountain where they visited what must be one of the world's most picturesque destinations for mountain biking.

Head to Saskatoon at the Meewasin Valley, this area offers over 105 km of trails across 67 square km of land. It provides year-round adventure and sightseeing opportunities in the heart of beautiful Saskatoon. Benefit from the well-maintained, multi-use pathways to cycle, jog or walk the scenic riverbank trails. Sections of the Meewasin Trail are also part of the Trans Canada Trail which extends almost 24,000 km across Canada from coast to coast. Keen for a challenge? British Columbia a place like no other

Imagine swimming thousands of miles to find that special someone. Whales complete this every single year, known as a whale migration, to find suitable habitat for feeding and reproducing. In British Columbia, these stunning orcas, also known as killer whales, are a prominent site and seeing them is a once in a lifetime experience. As well as orcas, expect to find humpback whales, grey whales and minke whales. These amazing creatures call BC their home from April to October. When the sun is out the whales come to play. From tail flukes to pectoral slaps, go for a whale watching trip and you can bask in their playful nature and enjoy the sunset with a relaxing drink, perfect for families and solo travellers. You can also go paddleboarding with orcas for a unique perspective from the water to see these magnificent creatures. You must, of course, always keep four hundred metres away from them for their safety and yours.
