The Vancouver Island, Victoria and the Gulf Islands region is a large, sparsely populated area and is home to one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems including rainforests, marshes, beaches, mountains, oceans, rivers and lakes, ideal for bear viewing, whale watching and fishing.

Departures May to October.

Day 1 – Vancouver
Arrive in Vancouver, where you will stay for three nights. Vancouver offers outstanding opportunities for outdoor adventure and the sophisticated amenities of a world-class city. Take advantage of the city’s ocean-side location, with plenty of green space and outdoor experiences in the mountains 20 minutes north of downtown. After a busy day, wind-down over a glass of BC wine and a locally inspired meal, or pamper yourself at one of Vancouver’s unique spas.

Day 4 – Vancouver to Victoria, approx. 45 miles
Take time to explore British Columbia’s elegant capital city. Included today is a whale watching trip to see the orcas (killer whales). Make sure to visit Beacon Hill Park and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, drop in for afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel or visit the famous Butchart Gardens. Stay for three nights in Victoria.

Day 7 – Victoria to Tofino, approx. 185 miles
Continue your journey to Tofino, BC’s surf capital. Hit the waves, take a boat trip to view grey whales and seals, visit hot springs or take a walk in the lush Rainforest. Make sure to book a trip to see the Black Bears, which inhabit the coastal areas around Tofino. Stay for three nights in Tofino.

Day 10 – Tofino to Campbell River, approx. 170 miles
Drive from Tofino to Campbell River, dubbed the “Salmon capital of the world”. Stay for one night in Campbell River.

Day 11 – Campbell River to Knight Inlet Lodge or Sonora Lodge
Take a morning float plane to Knight Inlet Lodge or Sonora Lodge and stay there for two nights and enjoy some bear watching.

Day 13 – Campbell River to Vancouver, approx. 175 miles
Transfer back to Campbell River and drive to Vancouver for your last night.

Day 14 – Vancouver
Spend the day exploring BC’s largest city before flying home.
